Pumps Focus of Energy Workshop
The
Council on Renewably Energy in the Mekong Region is holding a
workshop this week on solar pumping systems. The Bangkok-based CORE
is comprised of government official from Cambodia, Thailand, Laos
Vietnam and southern China plus researchers and private enterprises
involved in renewable energy, said Herbert Wade, a CORE consultant.
Solar-powered systems are an alternative to diesel pumps for
villages without access to electricity, said Bern Fahlenbock, a
German consultant in photovoltaic solar systems Topics include
systems on the market, how to use and fix them, plus the social and
financial commitment to maintain them, Fablenbock said. The workshop
is organized by CORE in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry
Mines and Energy and Carl Duisberg Gesellchaft, a German nonprofit
organization that is funding a three-year program of
workshops
on renewable energy.
