Aid for Roads, Water Extended
A
signing ceremony will be held today with Secretary of State for
Foreign Affairs Uch Kiman and Japanese Ambassador Gotaro Owaga
extending grants for two existing projects through March 2004. Money
from a $15.8 million grant is being used to repair an I 1.5-km stretch
of Route 7 in Kompong Cham province from the east bank of the
Mekong
River to Thnal Totoeng and to rehabilitate the Moat Khmung and Mream
Treak bridges.
Money
from a $20.6 million grant is being used to expand the Phurn Prek
water treatment plant. The goal is to increase the plant's capacity by
42 percent and improve the quality of water supply.
